Online ESTATE AGENTS experience/recommendations

Having had a shocker with our local estate agents, we would like to sell our house with someone like purple bricks, or Sold.
Does anyone have experience of using any online estate agents and recommendations?
Thank you

They are indeed advertising on number if threads.

I am using Strike, just the free one and so far so good. They communicate with me and the potential buyers ok so far. I am on the free version.

I used PB to sell my house last year and they were excellent, better than any high street agent I've used in the past. I know we were probably lucky with out contact at PB, but given the low cost to sell through them, it was definitely worth it.

Re people on here saying they wouldn't buy through PB, I wouldn't let that affect me. We had a lot of viewers, sold very quickly and got a really good price well over asking.

I suspect it is likely that PB won't exist in their current form for much longer. They are losing money hand over fist, their share price is down 98% over the past 5 years, and have today announced plans that they are exploring options to put themselves up for sale.

There are lots of potential buyers who won’t consider viewing a property listed on PB or any other online agent.
You could miss out on a sale.

I wouldn’t view a property listed with PB unless I absolutely loved the look of it. It’s not a professional set up.

How does PB work? I thought with them charging it would be just like normal agent?
Strike sent local woman (she lives like 10 min away) to sort the begining, then I got an agent who is communicating and when I got offer I got negotiator. I didn't opt to pay extra for agent viewings, so far no issue with that. Is PB different in approach?

I used to work for an online agent.

The advertising process is identical for online and offline, the portals (rightmove/Zoopla) is where everyone searches, the online just have uploading down to a finer art.

My advice would be if you're buying or selling, go for a trusted LOCAL agent. They'll generally (and it is a generalisation!) be more helpful to your buyer. And for Christ sake don't use a solely online conveyancer, they're a nightmare.

For landlords, I'd still go online, but that's a different kettle of fish.

We sold through purple bricks and would never use them or a similar online-only agent again. We attracted plenty of viewings (doing the work of showing people round ourselves) but there were so many time wasters because nobody was vetting people to check they were actually in a position to buy. We received and accepted an offer but the people turned out not to have a mortgage in place and dropped out meaning we lost the house we were trying to buy. Agent had already received fee so no incentive to help us really. Ended up chucking them and listing with a conventional agent who successfully sold the house on the first weekend of viewings.

Avoid Purple Bricks like the plague. We put our house on the market with them in July, they vastly overvalued it but tbh we were clueless so went with it. The “agent” supposed to be doing the viewings was absolutely fucking useless and was late to the first viewing we had, then messed about potential buyers so much “because it was a long drive for her” that we lost out on multiple viewings before we had to leave our property (all decluttered and “staged”) leaving the property empty so not as attractive.

we complained so much they knocked so money off our fee. they don’t bother to vet any buyers so you get people turning up making absolutely stupid offers, even considering the over valued price. We have finally sold STTC but they are so shit i’m not holding my breath till it actually goes through because i gather they’re equally useless at the actual sales part.

We bought through purple pricks and it was the most stressful experience of my life. I fucking hate our sellers purely because of their decision to use those incompetent wankers.

I seriously judge anyone who chooses to use them - they are THAT bad. The chain nearly fell apart because they literally don’t care. They’ve taken your money sk why do they care if you get a decent price or make it to completion?

Purple bricks has today put itself up for sale and issued an earnings warning so I’d be avoiding selling with them at the mo.
