Searches - How long are they valid for?

We did all the usual searches - Local Authority, Environmental, Drainage and one other that I can't remember 5 months ago on the property we wanted to buy. It took ages for us to find a buyer for our house but we are now getting close to Exchange. Our solicitor has our mortgage offer but needs to check with the lender that the searches are still valid on the house we want. I am sure they will respond soon but wondered if anyone knew. I believe Local Authority Searches are out of date after 6 weeks?

I am sure it is longer than 6 weeks, many purchases take longer than this to go through. Hopefully an expert will be along soon.

Technically the LA search is only valid for day it is done on - if someone comes along next day and puts in plans to build block of flats next door, there's nothing that can be done. Don't vendors have more recent ones as part of the oh-so-useful HIP?
