What time of day did you complete? Due to complete tomorrow and apparently they’re waiting for the funds from the mortgage company. We paid our deposit and all fees to our solicitors weeks ago. They said it then needs to be received into their solicitors account but we’re using the same solicitors so I think that might have just been a stock answer.

They’ve moved out so tomorrow should be a case of just packing the van and waiting to get the keys but some idea of when that might happen would be helpful!

It is usually about lunchtime when the keys are released. I've always had the van packed then gone for lunch and then picked up the keys.

This is my job, lunchtime is what we generally aim for, the Bank's can take ages to send mortgage monies through and the vendors have to give vacant possession so usually they have finished removals by lunchtime and then completion takes place and you get the keys.

Lunchtime would be good. The removal men are arriving at 8 and then it’s an hours drive to the new house. I have no idea how long it’ll take them to pack up the van and we’re paying them an hourly rate so don’t want them sitting around waiting to unload for hours.

Sold chain free and got an email about 11:30am. Had already vacated a few days beforehand.

All done & dusted by 1000. Much earlier than expected

BookwormButNoTime · 31/08/2022 08:28

We were much later than expected (at 3pm). We did, however, complete on the last day of the stamp duty reduction last year. The solicitors sorted out those with the longest chains first thing and we were one of the last ones to go through as it was a simple transaction.

We bought chain free from a buyer who'd already moved. The cash was released 10am but the sellers solicitor didn't acknowledge it until 4pm! So we didn't get the keys till then.

Luckily we weren't intending to move in on completion day

Startuplife · 31/08/2022 11:06

Well we completed at 10am but the sellers (who we were told had already moved out over the weekend) are still moving out so we’re sat outside the estate agents waiting for them to drop off the keys.

We sold and were moving into a rental, house bought by a bastard landlord who seemed intent on hanging on to his cash on completion day.

We didn't get the money into our account from the sale until 2pm. We needed it to pay the deposit on our rental and in the end had to borrow it from a friend.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 31/08/2022 13:26

Our ‘chain’ was the same. We exchanged and completed at 10am the same Friday. Keys and vacant property not until 4pm after - threatening to call the police.
