We are considering buying a garden flat but have twins. I've heard that people sometimes complain about kids in 1st floor flats but has anyone ever had people complaining about noise traveling upwards?

I lived in flats before my current house - yes we could hear children above and below us. Screaming / crying / shouting / running about etc all travels up and down. We could definitely hear the DC in the flats below us. Tbh it was part and parcel of living in flats, and the only time it annoyed us was when it was continuous, but all in all just part of general life, we didn't complain.

Yes, I could hear every word said in the flat below me but that was a victorian house converted into flats. Purpose built flats are usually less noisy.

We live in a purpose built flat with a baby, ground floor. To be fair he’s not a big crier but I’ve never been made aware if he/we can be heard. The sound insulation is good, we do hear upstairs but it’s muted.
