Moved 2 weeks ago and still not finished.

I feel like I have completely run out of steam

Oh you have made me feel so much better. I'm going to just put unpacked boxes in the garage out of the way and do a bit at a time. I feel like a weight has been lifted

About a week. But I had time to plan the move carefully and carry out lots of trips to the dump. Everything was in the correct box and left by removal men in the right room. That helped. A previous time I paid teen relatives to help unpack, and removal men put up the beds/furniture.

3 days to unpack all boxes (family of 6) but I just couldn't settle until it was done - getting up at 4am etc! Still haven't got all the pictures on the walls though and we've been here 6 weeks but still deciding about how to redecorate.

We have lived here nearly 5 weeks and have loads to still unpack. Storage space is an issue even though the house is much bigger so that's delaying things. We also have a 10 yo ASD son and 5 month foster baby so just don't have enough time. I feel better knowing this is quite a short time in comparison to some 😂

The first 8/9 moves I did it all in 24 hours - just kept going. Last time it took a couple of weeks. This time I’m two weeks in, and reckon another two weeks to go - BUT !!!!! this time we have had absolutely zero furniture to bring with us, no curtains eat for us, not even toilet roll holders or seats, so I’ve spent probably 10 of the last 14 days either buying or building furniture, just so we have somewhere to sleep/sit/put things away in.

We're about to move and will be in a similar boat. Most of our furniture won't fit in the house house or is so knackered we're dumping it and starting over, so we're ditching it and will have to buy all new bedroom storage. We won't have any storage for clothes at all and will be living out of suitcases till we get something sorted out. Plus we'll need to decorate including potentially moving a door and replacing carpet with wooden flooring so it'll probably be months before we're properly unpacked.

26 years, still got 4 boxes packed in the loft. Books mostly. Not got enough bookshelves.

Last house it took over 10 years. The stuff in the garage didn't get unpacked until we moved again :D

A couple of weeks as we needed to buy furniture. It took us months to pack as we decluttered, sold and scrapped a lot. We also moved most of our stuff ourselves into storage so did a bit at time.

A day but that was before children.

3 years and counting. In fact, it's an ever-changing situation- a lot of books we unpacked have had to be crated up again 😊(bookcases have had to come down for some replastering in one roomand a new roof in another).
Worst case I heard of was a chap I knew who was moving- he and his wife found boxes in the loft that hadn't been unpacked since their last move- 40 years earlier.

So, an update on my packing /unpacking.

I did nothing on Monday. Took down pictures and stuff from the walls on Tuesday. DH and I packed all day Wednesday. Movers in Thursday.
Down to last 3 boxes to unpack now (Tuesday), and a garage that is in complete disarray.
