Has anyone actually sold their house recently???

We have been on the market from June and all was going swimmingly with some lovely buyers and a purchase on a lovely house...but then our buyers buyer pulled out and we lost the house we were buying...that was in October and we haven't have a single viewing since.

Everywhere I turn I read about how bad the houseing market is blah blah blah and all I want to do is sell my house!

We are relocating 200 miles away and are desperate to move, but unable to rent due to several pets.

Anyone else having any luck?

gs i moved in augst last year to an over priced over valued decaying wreck!!

have the worlds biggest seriously big huge horrid mortgage. also moved from pristine thing

i know long term it is for the best its big and lovely - hard to tidy cos its not 'done; but rome was not built in a day!

dont need rate rises though so fingers crossed

We decided to jump on a house that was exactly what and where we wanted but have not even put ours on the market yet so have very unenviable position of owning two houses atm. I've had the realtors out and I'm doing a bit more staging then we're taking a deep breath and putting it out there. I have this feeling that we will be moving with a sign still in the yard and dh will have to double up on his anxiety meds

it will all work out in the end jabberwocky

dh stresses about our huge debt but in 10 years (with luck!) we will be glad we did it

I'm sure you're right. The funny thinkg is, I'm usually Miss Stress about everything and I've been unusually calm. I keep waiting for the panic attack to hit.

grinningsoul, sounds fab

Any chance of a linky so we can all be ?

GrinningSoul · 27/01/2008 10:18

too shy... it's 1930's, 4 beds (but one is 6ftx9ft), tiny old kitchen, on closer inspection yesterday with knowledgeable friends we decided it's not a wreck at all, just needs stripping back and decorating. which is fab. but best of all we went round the back and walked along behind all the neighbours' gardens to see what they'd done, and now i'm too excited for words. it's fully south facing and i'm all fired up about having a veg plot, and leaving all the beautiful old trees and shrubs to play hide and seek in. and maybe one day when we're rich ho ho build a glass kitchen extension.

but something will go wrong and i must stop counting my chickens. now. so thank you for egging me on and being lovely about it and i will keep quiet until we are on more solid ground.

sounds lovely GS!

House on market last Friday - 15 viewings over last week and one offer that we have accepted so very excited (and abit wistful to be leaving..). The people who made the offer were here all morning with tape measures and cameras so they seem keen. And are cash buyers currently renting.

Know its just the first step along a long road but this is the first time we have sold anywhere and were concerned by the dire dronings about the economy. But doesnt seem to have had an effect.

Moving out of London to the south west (gulp)

an update - we exchanged contracts on the scary expensive fixer-upper (and our sale) today. so that's 6 weeks from offer acceptance to exchange. feels like an eternity....it's been such an on/off process i'm finding it hard to be excited, even though it's what i've been wanting for so long. lucky me
