Complaints against surveyor

Has anyone complained about their surveyor giving poor advice and had a satisfactory outcome?

Friends did, but it took a long time. Surveyor said (very old) house was a double skinned brick, one wall, perhaps 2, I forget- turned out after purchase to be single- so would be difficult to sell as well as the other problems. It took a long time to sort out, and friends actually removed the mortar round one brick so the long procession of insurers etc. who said 'It looks like double brick to me' could see it was single when they yet again removed the brick. Surveyors' insurers eventually paid to have the wall rebuilt.
