Expat need advice on mortgage delay

Hello,

I am hoping someone can give me some advice. I am currently working in Dubai and have been for the past 3 months. An opportunity came about to purchase a property in the UK from a friend who needed the money to aid her mother's care bill.

I spoke to a couple of brokers, but in the end opted to use my family broker (mainly because he didn't charge £1k as fees) and as he previously helped me purchase my first home.

My plan is to remortgage my current home. Pay off the remaining amount and will still have enough left over for a 25pc deposit for buy to let mortgage.
For the remortgage, I got an agreement in principle in April. It is now middle of June and I still don't have a decision. I must admit, I have become impatient with my broker, as first he delayed in forwarding emails from the bank and then went on holiday to India even though i told him this needed to be done quickly.

I am at a stage where the bank are asking for information previously sent, and when I challenge my broker he gets defensive and say he usually charges a fee and is threatening to withdraw the application.

Can someone advise me what options I have please? Can I continue the application without him? Is there another broker you know of that can help as I will need another buy to let mortgage after remortgage is completed.

Thank you

I hope the bank you are thinking of using isn't NatWest, because they seem to be avoiding any business that involves the UAE after the Financial Action Task Force put UAE on the "grey list".

NatWest Jersey closed my account after 25 years because my employer paid my salary from Sharjah once after the grey list came in. No discussion, no appeal, just 60 days notice to foxtrot oscar.

It maybe something to do with money laundering.

They have tightened up on lending from certain countries, massively.
