Rafford Way Bromley BR1

Hello Mums,

Any opinions about Rafford Way Bromley BR1 as a street / area to live with a young family? We are moving to Bromley and aiming for Breaside / Babington or Bromley High Junior school for our DD and expecting our second DC in September. We like a property on Rafford Way near Bromley South and would like to have some opinions from anyone who knows the area well.
Thanks!

It's a great area as it's walkable to the town centre and stations but it's a lovely quiet street. There are good schools nearby but if you're looking at Braeside then you need to register pretty far in advance as it's really popular. We moved just to the north of the town centre last year and we love it, we're very happy here. Hope your property search goes well OP!

@Stillwinston thank you so much. Yes we have already registered at Breaside early this year and still on the waiting list for preprep this year as well as Reception next year. Keeping our fingers crossed. That's what we loved how close it is to everything but we were just not sure if it's too close to town centre to not be family friendly. Thanks so much for your feedback.

@Stillwinston also if we are looking for State Primaries around there as a backup what would our best bets be? As I am conscious I would need to apply this December for the state schools.

I'm not 100% certain on the size of the catchments around Bromley South but I'm pretty sure you'd get into the Bishop Challoner primary which is meant to be good. We're hoping to get our son into Scott's Park which is just down the road from Braeside but I'm not sure if it's a bit far from Rafford Way.

And Bromley is very family friendly so I don't think you need to worry too much - there's always loads going on for kids which is one of the reasons we moved here.

Sorry, meant Harris Primary, not Bishop Challoner!

@Stillwinston Thank you so much. Did you move to Bromley recently? Sounds like your DS is due to start reception next year too. And yes we would have loved to find something slightly north as well closer to Sundridge Park / Bromley North side but not many properties coming up and Rafford Way does seem brilliantly located in terms of connectivity and driving distances to prep schools we are looking for. Just was not sure if its too close to Kentish Way or town centre and thus will feel less 'residential'. But like you say - did feel like a nice quiet street.
