Where to live in Surrey?

Really appreciate any help, we are currently living in Buckinghamshire and love it but need to move to Surrey to be closer to family who are based further south. The problem is we really don’t know the area very well at all.

we currently live near Beaconsfield, Marlow, Amersham and are hoping to find somewhere with a similar feel in Surrey.

We’re looking for somewhere with large family houses, a decent Trainline within a 15min drive, and good schools for boys. Two areas that have been recommended are Cobham and Godalming, are there any others we should go and explore? Happy to live in a smaller village if not too far from a town with restaurants/shops etc

OP, the places being suggested are all very nice but there's a vast difference between suburban easy commuter Surrey (close to stations with quick services to London) and more rural/Surrey Hills (many places can be within 15mins of a station but the train services are slower). As someone who grew up in rural surroundings, much as I can see how Oxshott, Weybridge, Esher, Pyrford, Horsell, for example, are towns or villages in their own right and not far from the countryside, it's a very different type of life to living further out from London and they do feel part of the suburban sprawl (to me!).

Perhaps if you could clarify if you want rural or suburban and how long you're prepared to be on a train into Waterloo for/if it's every day that might help narrow it down because right now you're having almost everywhere suggested to you.
