How long for a decision in Best and final scenario?

I made a best and final offer today on a house that has a lot of interest in ie 30 viewings. How long for a decision is usual and does a long wait mean you are likely to be unsuccessful?

Five hours five or take for all our unsuccessful bids. Not had a successful one yet so no idea if those are quicker!

Mine were 2 working days at most.

one estate agent I’ve spoken to was very communicative. Called me to ask for best and final by 3pm. Called at 4pm to say the vendors going to think about it. Called at 10am to say the vendor is due to come in this afternoon and give a response. Called at 3pm to say that appointments been moved to tomorrow. Got the call I was unsuccessful early the next day. not sure if all the called helped or made it worse, as everytime they called I got excited.

When we’re offers due? We waited for as much as about a week to 10 days (probate sale) or about 20 minutes (offer we had accepted on our current home).

Before the estate agent close we were told the vendors were going to make the decision in the evening. The estate agents called late morning or early after the next day. Unsuccessful.

After=afternoon

We were told the EA would be in touch that afternoon. We submitted it in the morning. Didn't hear back so had to email them to follow up. Took two days to hear back after another email prompting them that we'd been unsuccessful. This happened with two different EA on two houses we offered on. I guess if you're the successful bid then you'd hear sooner.

Two days after close of offers.

mum61 · 03/05/2022 18:49

@tokyotea I sort of thought this might be the case.
12pm was closing time today ,told they would let us know as some as possible and I don't hold out much hope as the vendor prefers a cash buyer and I am under offer to buyers with no related sale (living with family)

Within two hours. Didn’t get it. Then sale fell through a month later and I got it second time round.

mum61 · 04/05/2022 20:22

@Notmyyearthisyear I just heard I didnt get it.The vendor went with a buyer who has 3 properties to sell but is getting a bridging loan to fund the purchase (apparently that is less risky and quicker for the vendor)
I am under offer to buyers living with family who need a low loan to value mortgage. I dont need a mortgage .we offered the same price.
So disappointed.
Glad it worked out for you in the end.
