Help me decide what sort of windows to have

Classic 1950s estate house, we are replacing the windows. Im interested in what is apparently called awning style - split the window in half and then one side has a bottom opener.

Other option is like for like replacement

Or is there something else we should be considering? I quite like the look of the crittal style, but am unsure about it having white as it dates a property.

I'll try to find a picture of a similar house and post it

I think you have to think about how you open the windows now..like we never open our lounge windows so I would be tempted to just have a small opening across the top for ventilation opening only. Upstairs it's nice to open them more but also have the smaller top opening.
Some windows perhaps on stairs could be a picture window and not open? I'm looking now and def want as thin a barrier as possible

Do you mean by not having white e.g. grey, it dates a property? I think white is just classic and won't date.

I think the new aluminium frames are quite neat looking

Sorry @SwedishEdith I do mean "not". I think you agree with me there?

@bestbefore I don't think I know what aluminium looks like, have you got any examples? I'll go off and Google too
