Proof of Insurance

Why are some tradesman so awkward when you ask for proof of insurance? Am I really the only person that asks for this when instructing someone?! Yes, they are small jobs, but I still feel like I should have sight of it... Am I being incredibly anal?

So what happens when you ask them for proof of insurance? Do they give it to you?

@DenholmElliot well, yes. But today I had two roofers basically say that no one ever asks them and they were really funny about it. Tbh, I don't think they were funny about it because they don't have it. I reckon they do, but just can't be arsed going to the computer, digging it out and sending an email. It's a small £350-£400 job. It really annoyed me as I don't think I'm asking too much. I possibly have more work for them but now I'm not really keen to work with either of them as they've annoyed me.
