Gravel Deliveries?

Sorry this is a really daft question but - when you had gravel delivered, what did you do?

We need some gravel for the back but I'm just wondering how it would work as the only way to the back is via the house or round a very narrow back entrance.
Should we get a load of small bags and do it that way?
Or maybe just have it tipped at the front and just transport it through with wheelbarrow or something?

A long time ago we did a ton with wheelbarrows, path about 2 feet wide. Others prefer 20kg sacks, if you can get them it saves shovelling.

Yes, good point. Thank you Nyfluff! You never think of these things until you have to!

We had to wheelbarrow it around the back.

Either, most builders merchants deliver in ton bulk bags and put the bag near the road or can crane it onto the drive. Depends on how much you want and it might be cheaper in bulk.

Our neighbour did this and had to wheelbarrow it all round the back fter the bulk delivery.

If you don't want to do it yourself you could get it delivered then pay a handyperson to do the wheelbarrow bit.

Thank you everyone. Yes Carefullycourageous - that's a good idea - wheeling it round the back will be more arduous in practice than you think it is.
