Permission From Mortgage Lender

Hey,
I just wondered how easy it is to get permission from a mortgage lender to rent our your property? What is the process? Is it a long process? In what circumstances would they usually disallow it?
Thanks, in advance

If you're letting it out in the short term, you can probably stick with your current lender. They'll charger a higher rate of interest (commensurate with the increased risk to them which will be dependent on your circumstances) and maybe a fee too.

If it's a permanent change you might be better to remortgage with a specific buy-to-let lender.
