Which duvet brand for a wool duvet is the best?

There are 3 main runners I think:-

  1. Baavet
  2. Wool Room
  3. Devon Duvets

I am seriously considering a wool duvet, as am totally hacked off with my current Feather and Down. Its only a few years old and all the stuffing has fallen to the sides to leave an almost empty space in the middle! Admittedly, must have been a rubbish brand, as my other duvet doesn't do this. Hence, my concern with a decent quality, decent brand this time.

I want to buy a winter wool duvet as I feel the cold. Any thoughts or recommendations would be much appreciated. I also put this in "Decoration" Talk Subject, but I'm not sure which is the right place, so am shamelessly duplicating!

I have an all seasons one from Soak & Sleep and love it! I did order one from somewhere else before but ended up sending it back for a refund - can’t remember what brand it was though…

My Baavet duvet spends its entire life getting crumpled in the duvet cover, it drives me mad, as I spend at least 10mins a day shaking the thing into the corners. That said it is very warm. I don't know if this is common with all wool duvets or just my Baavet. I've hard very good things about Devon duvets, and when I was researching wool duvets they certain,y came out well, but my budget wouldn't stretch to one!

Baavet. Simply the best. Go onto their website and check out their info. Totally pure and natural

I have a Baavet and a Soak and Sleep one and prefer the latter.

I have had a Penrose alpaca duvet for a few years and it’s still good as new. It keeps me at the correct temperature all year round but I do run hot!

I have woolroom winter and medium weight duvets and I love them! The winter one is maybe a little heavy but super warm. The medium one is fab with some extra blankets when needed. They regular temp so much better than synthetic.

silentpool · 03/04/2022 20:37

I have a Woolroom one, which I've been very happy with.

Wool room, I have a two part one, washes well

Neverreturntoathread · 03/04/2022 20:48

Dunno but ask them about washing it: I got one from a different shop and the advice was “wool duvets do not need washing and must not be wet, just lay it in sunshine”

This did not help when DC vomited on it 🧐

And the dry cleaner said they shouldn’t dry clean wool cos it traps the chemicals and the fumes can be dangerous.

We ended up washing it with water against the instructions 🤷‍♀️

Is v warm in winter but boiling in summer

I use silk duvet instead now.

We have a baavet and it’s great. It’s one from their baargain box but for the life of me I couldn’t tell you why it’s a second as it seems perfectly in order and is into its 6th year now. I love it although my husband isn’t a huge fan as it’s not as hot at synthetic duvets (he’s one of those people who doesn’t just like to be warm, he has to be HOT 🙈). It’s also heavier which I like but he moans about. Anyway I think it’s the dogs whatsits and recommend them to anyone who asks.

Oh and washing wise they can be washed in a normal washing machine (albeit a big one). Just not hot and as little agitation as possible so as not to felt the wool. Although I suspect the duvet would still be nice to sleep under even if it did felt a bit.

bellac11 · 03/04/2022 21:26

Mine is the wool room. Its been washed twice at the launderette due to the cat weeing on it two weeks in a row.

Then a third occasion when we discovered it fits in the washing machine and dried nicely on the line

Salome61 · 03/04/2022 21:42

I have a Devon Duvet and a Baavet, I prefer the Devon.

I don't recommend getting them dry cleaned, they obviously boiled mine and it felted. I was reimbursed.

SoosanCarter · 03/04/2022 21:45

Baavet!

Lilboots · 04/04/2022 13:24

I've got a Baavet and I love it. As others have said it's heavier than a usual duvet, but I quite like that (and I find it doesn't shift around in the duvet cover which was an unexpected bonus). Mine came from the seconds sale and, like a PP, honestly couldn't tell you why it was there.

GroovyGroovy · 04/04/2022 17:19

Thank you all.

cruisecrazy · 05/04/2022 16:40

Devon Duvets I have one and it is gorgeous.

Mintine · 05/04/2022 17:14

We have two Baavet, both seconds, and they are absolutely great. I would definitely recommend them.

bouncydog · 05/04/2022 22:14

Wool room ones here. Fabulous easy to get in the duvet covers - our beds are superking. Also got mattress protectors and pillows. Highly cprecommended.
