Utility room ideas

Our utility is pretty small (measures 2.4m x 1.7m), and currently has the washing machine, boiler, sink and some base cabinets along one of the 2.4m walls. Things are VERY old, and need modernising.

Where might I get the sink, worktop (I'm thinking terrazzo), and cabinets from? The likes of Howden's, as if it were a kitchen?

And does anyone have any clever clothes airers that fold down from the wall? I want something discreet I can hang socktopuses from. Would a clothes maid be the right thing? (It's an Edwardian house so fairly high ceilings)

Thank you!

A strong stainless steel rail (the kind that's for clothes hangers), will be great for drying things on hangers and or socktopuses. Also good for drying off a wet coat after a a rainy walk

@RandomMess yes ikea is probably cheapest, but would I have to get my worktop from them too? (I don't want to)

@mama4321 that sink is great! That airer is lovely but 🤑🤑🤑!

@Mosaic123 would this rail be running wall to wall you mean? Or attached to and under a shelf?

@peranaka I agree re the airer!! I'm hoping someone can make me something similar way cheaper as the design is perfect for the space I have.

We have a couple of these in our utility. I use them for hanging up drying shirts (on hangers) and for our socktopus!

@FuglyHouse that's a good solution! And a LOT cheaper than what I've seen so far. Thank you 😊

I have two instahangers over a heater which works amazingly well in the winter (and no ironing as everything on hangers). I would definitely recommend them I dont use the bar between them, just hook on the actual metal brace. instahanger

For non hanging things I have two drying racks from ikea that fold down when not in use. They dont seem to make them anymore though. These are similar but the ikea ones were seperate, bigger and much cheaper wall rack

Ooh those are some good suggestions @liquidrevolution and @FuglyHouse

Does anyone know what @Sunnyme93 said that was deleted by MN??

It was an advert.

Thank you. I had hoped for something more exciting! There was a big fight on another property thread, and I thought maybe I'd started something too (inadvertently)!
