Taking wallpaper off - back paper sticking to wall

How do I stop this happening?

The wallpaper is coming off easily but the back paper isn’t and it’s awful to get it off. Do I wet it more or less? Would that help?

I use a wallpaper steamer. It's the only thing that works.

Are you scoring through rhe top surface of paper before wetting, using warm watet with a bit of washing up liquid helps

Just soak it with a sponge, it will come off very easily

Buy some cheap washing powder like Asda home brand. Make a strong solution with hot water and brush it on with a flopper. Make sure it's saturated. It will come off after being soaked for a few hours.

Thanks I’m using a steamer. Not scoring it but will do. Will try a solution with washing liquid

Tried soaking it and it’s every so slightly better but now part of the paint behind the wallpaper is coming off and my wall looks like this… is this ok?

Score, steam, scrape. Usually the top layer comes off first, then you need to steam again to get the bottom layer of backing paper soaked. You have to scrape it off.

I get into a good system, where i'm holding the steamer on one section, then move steamer to another section while I'm scraping the first section, then move on to the next steamed bit... then go back to the first bit if needed.
