Anyone have a hive thermostat

Hi
Had a huge thermostat fitted yesterday (I was at work so couldn't ask questions)
It's wall mounted but told can take it off and move it into other rooms. Great.
But when I take it off the wall the back is left attached to the wall and the batteries are exposed so not very aesthetic or functional. I've read about decorative plates but can't actually find any online and don't know if these are for the thermostat to attach too so then it is mobile or if the playe is just to cover the wall behind and the thermostat back is still screwed to the wall too? I hope this makes sense. I have googled/searched but struggling to work it out.
Thanks

Obviously huge = hive.
Although it is pretty big

The plate has screw holes so should lift off. We free stand ours, you can get holders though.

www.hivehome.com/shop/smart-heating/hive-thermostat-stand?icid=mname%3Amega-menu.iname%3Ahive-thermostat-stand

Frame just goes round the wallmount. Why do you want to move it around?

We have it, just use the app on our phones for water and heating, never user the wall thermostat. Love that I can keep an eye on heating level when I’m out and about.

greenbirdsong · 04/03/2022 09:12

Same with ours. If you take it off the wall the batteries are exposed. You can buy stands for them but we usually just keep it on the wall as otherwise my 4yr old doesn't leave it alone lol Grin

I have one. Just leave it on the wall as I use my phone to change the temp when I want to. Warm up my house while on the train home - love it!

muchprefersummer · 04/03/2022 12:15

Ours is the same.

We leave it on the wall all the time and control through the app on our mobiles.

Namechangeforthis88 · 04/03/2022 12:22

For those asking why would you want to move it around - we used to have a wireless (not hive) thermostat and liked that we could take it onto whatever room we were in. I don't care about the temperature on the hall when I'm spending the rest of the evening sat in the lounge.

We don't normally go by the thermostat that much, we just boost the heating for 30 minutes or an hour from our phones if it feels cold. It's probably not entirely the purpose of the Hive, but it works really well like that for us and our heating bills aren't too bad. The rest of the time it's set to Off on the app. The same with hot water, I just boost it once or twice a day.

DonGray · 04/03/2022 12:50

We leave ours on the wall and use the phone to boost it as and when needed

Google hive thermostat stand. There are loads at all different price points that you can use to make it mobile.

Below is an example..

Although I also leave it on the wall and use my phone to operate the heating.

Polkadotties · 04/03/2022 14:39

Mine has a back on it. I keep mine in our bedroom. We have a very open house and the warm air rushes up stairs. Can’t stand getting into bed in a warm room

redfairy · 05/03/2022 09:26

Mine's on the wall in the hall and I've never moved it about. Why would you when you can pick your phone up and look at the screen? You can buy stands for them if you really want.

sleepyhoglet · 05/03/2022 14:32

Jumping on the thread but is it possible to change the wall thermostats in a Victorian house to hive or nest easily enough? We have nest in our newbuild and love it!

LIZS · 05/03/2022 16:13

@sleepyhoglet Should be as hive thermostats are wireless , they fit the controls near the boiler and/or watertank and a wifi hub,

Yes - we would move ours around for this reason. Got a new hive thermostat yesterday as well, and somewhat confused to find it won’t stand up by itself cos of little sticky out bit at the bottom. We are thinking of mounting it to the wall, but we used to do the same moving it around thing.

But I think doing that won’t be as necessary now cos it’s so easy to change temp from our phones. It’s a whole new world!

EffOrfagain · 05/03/2022 21:40

Mines in the hall and I know that if it is set at 19 that it is 21 in the lounge, so I just do the schedule accordingly, I have thermometers in every room anyway.
