My sister just sent me this link to a house near her. When I last stayed with her, we walked past it at night when it was all lit up and thought it looked intriguing.

What’s unusual about it? I thought it was going to be a link to a lighthouse or a bunker or something!

TonkaTruckduck · 01/03/2022 06:46

Wow i love it! I dodon'know the area at all, but I'm ready to move there!
It looks as though the owners give the most amazing parties and the house is full of life.
Fantastic income potential from the little annex as well.

Same. Is it literally just the decor colour etc you're referring to?
RampantIvy · 01/03/2022 06:52

I think the decor is rather flamboyant. What's with the gold baby bath for a bathroom sink?

fallfallfall · 01/03/2022 06:52

Not really weird at all.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 01/03/2022 06:54

Its bizarre. You've got bathrooms bigger than bedrooms and a hallway bigger than bedrooms.

Annexe is definitely for holiday lets/air bnb.

It reminds me of a gentlemans club...

MrsSkylerWhite · 01/03/2022 06:57

Very low ceilings, not for me.

This to me is unusual, I must admit I was thinking on these lines

The house in the link has distinctive interior design but the building is not unusual imo

emmathedilemma · 01/03/2022 14:27

I reckon this one has been an AirBnB rental espc.com/property/265-5-canongate-edinburgh-eh8-8bq/36077373?sid=199957

BlondeDogLady · 01/03/2022 16:35

Photo number 17 is obviously an error!

I love the house though.

I think that's the back where the annexes are.
BlondeDogLady · 01/03/2022 16:38

Oh! Looks totally disconnected in terms of style!

sst1234 · 01/03/2022 16:39

Great as a film set. Not so much to live in. Imagine looking that decor everyday.

xfgdhfgnhkk007 · 01/03/2022 16:41

I think it's gorgeous, especially the stairs in the middle of the room, with a little desk space next to it.

A maximalist's dream Smile

Fizzbo · 01/03/2022 16:47

I thought it was unusual and worth a share as it’s not your average house. Picture 17 is the 2 annexes. My sister says it’s been on the market for a while but I guess it’ll only appeal to a small group of people.

I love it. I think I'd struggle with the heating bill though so I'll pass.

IReallyLikeCrows · 01/03/2022 16:51

I'd live there in a heartbeat.

AuraBora · 01/03/2022 16:54

I love it too... I'd be really interested to meet the people whose house it is.

JellyMouldJnr · 01/03/2022 16:55

I love the decor, but I would want a garden for £1million!

Didiusfalco · 01/03/2022 17:02

It’s very expensive for a house with no garden. I imagine why it’s not selling rather than anything to do with the decor.

merryhouse · 01/03/2022 17:23

"I want to live in a Scottish castle and my husband is all about the luxury plumbing (and has no concept of colour)"

RockinHorseShit · 01/03/2022 17:27

Money clearly doesn't buy good taste. It's disjointed, no flow to it at all & a lot of it is plan hideous

JunkIsland · 01/03/2022 17:38

I like it too. Couldn’t do this style justice myself as not skilled enough at colour and ultimately prefer blank canvas white walls, but I love it when other people can do it to good effect. Shame there is no garden. A small courtyard garden done by the inhabitants of this house would be wonderful, I reckon. I’m imagining lots of foliage with interesting sculptures and mirrors here and there.

Starseeking · 01/03/2022 19:01

It looks like it used to be a pub.

RedBonnet · 01/03/2022 19:08

It reminds me of a hotel. And the downstairs toilet is in the dining room. And does the front door open straight into the living room?
