House hunting in Woking/Guildford - advice needed!

Hello Everyone 👋

As a life long Woking'er I feel like I know a lot of the areas relatively well, however I have been house hunting and looking at areas closer to Guildford/ in between Woking and Guildford and could really do with some advice on areas!

Myself and my partner are looking for a 2 or 3 bed in a nice area, location to shops and station etc isn't as important as finding somewhere with a nice neighbourhood. We have also looked at places in Burpham and Merrow.

With a few houses on our hit list in Stoughton and Pitch Place (which is just of Salt Box Road - didn't know it was its own area!). What are these two places like? And are there any areas of these places to avoid?

All thoughts, in put, suggestions and help welcome! 😀

Thanks in advance! ❤

We are just about to list our 2 bed in Burpham! In terms of areas, Stoughton, Bellfields and Park Barn are generally the cheapest areas where you will get the most for your money. I personally think Fairlands is very nice with local shops and quieter than other areas. Burpham and Merrow are the same, slightly bigger & obviously benefit from the larger supermarkets & pubs in walking distance.

Ooooo! Please feel free to send the listing link!

Not sure I have looked at Fairlands so will have a browse. Are there good schools in the Stoughton type catchment areas do you know?

Thanks for all your help!

Will schools be a factor? If so, the options are better in Merrow/Burpham than the other side, especially at secondary level.

Just read that you are looking at school ms so I'd definitely go the other side for better secondary options.

Not for the immediate future, but for longevity of being able to stay in the house we go for, we'd like to start a family in the next 5 years or so so would be more primary schools initially! I wasn't really aware of many primary schools in the Stoughton area - and would be happy to travel to Burpham for schools if that's a possibility (have googled the catchment stuff but slightly confused by how it all works!)
