Solicitor hasn’t registered my property!

I bought a property last year and I have just found out that solicitor hasn’t registered it. When I contacted conveyancer, I was told that they will do it but because it has never been registered before, I have to pay a further fee of £95 as it has never been registered before. Apparently, had it been previously registered, my original £95 fee would have covered it.

I have paid the extra fee but does this sound right? Is there anything I need to be aware of going forward wrt how an unregistered property gets registered and due diligence.

Any advice is much appreciated.

The fees are correct, assuming you paid £100,000-200,000 for your property and they’ve suddenly realised it’s unregistered.

I’d complain about them failing to put in an application before now though.

They should have all the paperwork they need to do it.
