Painting wooden kitchens units

hi, does anyone have experience of painting wooden kitchen cabinets? I have a new kitchen due to arrive, assumed I could just paint it with kitchen-ready paint off the shelf, but have seen some comments on here referring to professional spray painting jobs. Has anybody done this themselves, I would prefer to do so myself rather than pay someone else to do it (budget is already blown!). Thanks!

Ours were primed with zinsser And then painted in 3 coats of satinwood.

I recommend rust-oleum kitchen cupboard paint super easy to apply no primer needed and dries quickly. I've used it for wooden kitchen table, side table etc

Thanks for your comments. Materials used - paint brushes/mini rollers? Or some kind if spray painting tool

We used Rustoleum and small fluffy rollers.
