I know it's going to massively vary but I have to decide what date to complete on with a few complications possible, I'm going to have to go with the best of a bad bunch.

No chain, only one household is moving into an empty property, no one moving onwards.

Because the process to get here hasn't been hard enough!

Completed at 12.15pm on a Monday in September. We moved out on the Friday so I could do a deep clean over the weekend. Nipped in on Monday morning to take meter reads and then dropped the keys at the estate agent.

First one - 8.30 in the morning. Second one - after 5 in the evening

Just went back and checked and our keys are available at 9.30am. The house was empty though even when we viewed it as the owner had moved to a care home.

Exchanged about 3pm and completed on my purchase at 6.15pm, my sellers completed on theirs about 8.30pm!

This was the 30th June stamp duty deadline, so hopefully you’ll not have to experience this!

Moving from rented as ftb, it was delayed all day and sellers wanted keys to be collected from EA branch in the next town, maybe 4-5 miles away, knowing we wouldn't make it until they were shut. Made no sense as no one was coming from or moving to that town, just unnecessary journeys. We said no, keys at village EA half a mile away and got them around 5pm on a Friday! Think sellers wanted to keep the house over the weekend even though they were moving into an already-vacated house locally!
That was many years ago. Not completing on a Friday if we move again after getting that close!

At 10 am but the sellers had already moved out into their new rented house. We weren’t moving in that day either so I met the seller here after work about 6pm and he handed me the key, we read the meters together and then he drove off.

Mydogisagentleman · 21/01/2022 08:07

Our last one completed at 10.00, we couldn’t get in until 6 that evening though as our sellers were hopeless

LittleBearPad · 21/01/2022 08:10

I’m confused?? You don’t have to anything when you complete as it seems you aren’t moving that day?

Just leave the keys with the estate agent or collect them from the estate agent depending whether you’re buying or selling.

A family member did the same a few weeks ago.

They’d already moved out. The property that was being sold was empty. The buyers were chain free and arrived with their vans at lunchtime but the money didn’t get transferred until 4.50pm on a Friday.

Despite advice, the family member let them start moving in at lunchtime. I was so relieved when it all completed!
