After receive the survey report, I invited few builders to visit the property for quotation. As there is one timber not install properly according to current building standard.

However, the builders come back said it is no an issue and refuse to quote. One of the builders said it is match the old standard when the house is build, just the government change standard, but the house structure haven't any issue.

Don't know why opinion should I take🙈

Anyone have any idea?

Have all the builders said it isn't a problem?

It only needed to be installed by the standard at the time.

Lots of build will not be up to present building standards and are perfectly sound and legal.

I’m not clear where you are in the process? Are you a potential buyer or have you already bought? It seems the survey stated that it was not per current standard but builder(s) say it’s safe?

I would do nothing but be prepared that the same issue might come up again when you sell. If you are still in the buying process you could walk away but it seems a big decision for what seems like a non-issue.

Exactly. Electrical standards in particular seem to change every few years.

Unless you are planning work around this area it could remain in place without any issues for many years.
