Anyone renewed their driving licence recently??...

Just wondering how long it took. We need to renew ours for ID for solicitors. Our passports have expired (never go anywhere anyway), I need to renew my driving licence along with changing address and new photo. I've heard it can take 6-10 weeks at the moment and I'm just wondering if anyone has found that to be the case? Otherwise I'll be really stuck for ID, it's so strict but you really need driving licence or passport, neither of which I actually use!!

@Daggers78 I renewed mine September last year, if you do it all online it's quite quick (back in a week), paper copy is where I believe the delays were (and are) I think they were quoting hundreds of thousands of bits of post at one stage (it's probably not that bad now)

I did mine and my partners in December and they were both back in less than a week. Hopefully yours won’t take too long!

I did mine at the post office though I don’t know if that works if you’re changing address. They’ll do a photo for you and I got it back in less than 2 weeks.

Unfortunately I can't do mine online without a passport! That's where my issue lies. And annoyingly our city post office no longer offers the service where they check it all for you before sending it off. But it does sound reassuring that you didn't have to wait too long.

If it does take longer I think there is a way that the solicitors can do a different ID check but I think it's quite lengthy and they'll probably need my birth certificate which will be with the dvla! Really should have renewed sooner 🤦‍♀️

They must be able to, I know several people without passports or driving licenses

I had to do mine in November, also at the post office. Went in on Tuesday morning and they did photos etc and I received my license on the Thursday! Was amazed!

I did my husbands on Wednesday and his new one arrived today
