Parsons Green Or Wimbledon Town?

Hi All,
Just wondering about your views on the above areas to live with two children -7 and 2. We have potential offers at good private schools in both areas for DS and the budget to buy a house in both too. I would prefer Wimbledon Village over the town, but seems to be a lack of houses for sale at the mo and also a bit over our price range in truth.
Thank you Smile

Which school do you prefer?

I know both places relatively well, but quite out of date. Both have pros and cons. W’don more suburban.

Two quite different places. Do you want to live in central london or on the edge of London? Reads like you've just picked two expensive places at random.

Not random. I used to live in Wimbledon - but when I was single so no idea what its like with kids. Parsons Green I've stayed in but not lived ( I live abroad at present). Both areas have fantastic schools and good tube links.

I have lived in both those places. Personally, I would pick Wimbledon because of easier access to Surrey. I found as my children got older, all the exciting activities for bigger kids tended to be in Surrey because of the greater amount of space. You would also probably get a bigger garden in Wimbledon and possibly off-street parking if those are factors.

I live in Wimbledon, so am clearly biased, but one of the biggest draws is the transport links. So easy to get into London, and also out again: not having to rely solely on the District Line is brilliant.

Also: Wimbledon Common.

Plus the people, obviously.

Thanks for all your reply's so far.
Schools wise Im not sure which I prefer as yet. Has been hard as Im having to do everything from afar and not in person.
The point about being close to Surrey is a great one Id not considered.

For me it would be Wimbledon every time. But it does really depend upon whether you want to be more centrally west of London with easy access to Kings road, Kensington etc or whether that doesn’t matter.

Wimbledon is more suburban but that’s what I prefer as it gives good access to Surrey, countryside, A3 etc. It’s less on top of each other, gardens may be bigger, I like Wimbledon Village, Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park. It’s got both main line and tube.

Oh Wimbledon a thousand times over. However, if there is any way of managing a house in the village rather than the town, do it!
