Kitchen Extractor Fans Never Work!

Any advice appreciated.

We have had a new kitchen installed by a well known high street kitchen company. Our expensive extractor fan isn't working properly and a fitter arrived today. According to him the fact that I have condensation running down the windows, even when I have lids on my pans, is to be expected as no extractor fans ever really work, and I should open a window or a door. Surely this can't be true?

do you have single glazing, that might be the cause for the condensation.

cook with gas? gas means more moisture in the air which can lead to more condensation.

do you have to remove something?
my bastard smeg hood has metal covers that I need to remove for it to be effective.
opening the window is easier...

Sorry for the late reply - manic weekend.

The kitchen is 3.5m by 3 m. We were advised that we would need a bigger extractor fan, so paid an arm and a leg for this one. It is ducted out, above the cabinets, to an outside wall, less than 1.5 m away, within the suggested guidelines

can you show us the outside vent, please. Sniff it while running. Is it blowing out?
