Matthew James - are based in Chislehurst, Kent - they are excellent did all our packing and storage and had no problems at all with any aspect of their work!

great..dad said there was a possible problem re the extension hence the delay in exchange?

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 17/12/2007 13:01

extension all fine

the thing which has caused a delay is the sodding Xmas post - the contract has been sent for our vendors to sign 10 days ago and they never received it, so it has been sent again - aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

don't know where you are but we wnet local
I always try to use a local company if possible rathern than a chain as 9 times out of 10 they are shite
I know someone who worked for Pickfords and told me all sorts of horror stories!

camillathechicken · 17/12/2007 13:02

oh for gods sake.. you think someone would have chased it up........well, fingers crossed!

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 17/12/2007 13:04

dooley - don't tell me in case we end up using them LOL!

have called a couple of local firms, but it is hit and miss. One company said that they "packed" clothes in bin bags ...

Look in your Yellow Pages for a box of all the local 'federation of removal Companies' or whatever their trade body is called, and call them for quotes. Avoid the big well known national companies.

IME packing is surprisingly cheap if you are using them to move, and SO worth it.

LIZS · 17/12/2007 16:47

Whereabouts are you - we've used Lanes and Swift in the past they cover mid Sussex / East Surrey / South London type areas.

RubySlippedonastraymincepie · 17/12/2007 18:26

I am in Essex LIZS

but we are within the M25 so that should help
