Solicitor said contracts were due to be exchanged yesterday afternoon.

At 4pm yesterday, got a call to say that the people at the top of the chain have decided they don’t want to move today after all. Solicitor said we would have to renegotiate dates next week.

This sale has been going on since fucking January.

I knew we wouldn’t be moving tomorrow. Nothing is packed, no ban booked, we haven’t even given notice on the rented place we are in yet because the top of the chain have been total dicks all the way through.

Thank christ we are in rented.

Oh and I got the call just as an ambulance was farting off my dad who had had an alarming down spiral with dementia over the past few days.

I’m so, so pissed off.

Farting off 🤦🏽‍♀️

Christ, all the typos. I’m very stressed, sorry.

How incredibly frustrating.

And sorry about your Dad.

Bloody idiots: they could have asked everyone for a day next week and exchanged yesterday setting that day. Can your solicitor send the message back down to pick a day they do want to move abd get the exchange done?

ALbigbump · 19/11/2021 08:52

@Siriisatwat 💐

TiddyTidTwo · 19/11/2021 08:52

What are their reasons for these delays?

Siriisatwat · 19/11/2021 09:17

@TiddyTidTwo

No idea.

Our solicitor has been shit as well.

I’ve just got no idea what to do now. Everyone is just so unhelpful and that’s if you can get through to them.

To top it off, we are moving my dad 300 miles to be near us, he is supposed to be completing next friday and it’s muggins here who has to hire a van, pack up his and bring it back.

And now he’s in hospital and will probably end up in a care home, we’ll have to put the bloody thing right back on the market again or rent it out.

I thought there were penalties to be paid when someone delayed?

We’ve not exchanged contracts, so there wouldn’t be.

The estate agent called us. She’s been phoning around.

It was the last in the chain, they just said this weekend was busy for them.

I mean, for fucks sake.

Today had been agreed on. It was all set to exchange yesterday.

She said the people we are buying from are fuming as they had removals booked for this morning.

Now they are talking about 24th.

ALbigbump · 19/11/2021 11:02

Everything crossed for you that 24th happens. Some people are so inconsiderate they think the universe revolves around them!

Siriisatwat · 19/11/2021 17:43

They called at 4 to say we have exchanged.

I still won’t believe it until i’m through the front door.

EdgeOfTheSky · 19/11/2021 22:51

Great!

Exchanged for completion when? The 24th?

Magstermay · 20/11/2021 08:44

At least now you’ve exchanged they’re committed

Siriisatwat · 20/11/2021 08:51

At long last.

We’ve been dicked around so much over the last 11 months. Believe me, if anything else remotely suitable had come up in all this time, we’d have told them to shove it.

It’s been on thing after the other. Once they went awol for 8 weeks.

The date set in the contract for completion is a binding contract, they are now contractually obliged to pay the balance. They could lose their whole deposit or be liable for costs.

I hope their solicitor has made that very clear to them!

Are they using a crappy online conveyancer?

Check with the EA. I would tell the EA to make sure everyone is aware of their contractual obligations and ready to move!

ALbigbump · 20/11/2021 15:13

@Siriisatwat fantastic news at long last!

Siriisatwat · 20/11/2021 15:38

It’s bittersweet with my dad in hospital though. It might be that he needs to go into a care home and I know that it will make him go downhill faster.

It’s the first home I’ve owned at the grand old age of 41, i’m a little sad that he’ll either never see it, or if he does, won’t be aware.

The kids are really excited though, especially my 19 year old, it’s got a sort of little studio pad for him downstairs, he’s looking forward to having room for a small sofa in his room.
