Mortgage offer condition - how to fulfil it?

My mortgage offer has a condition about obtaining advice from an engineer or chartered building surveyor with regard to the adequacy of support above a removed chimney breast in the bathroom before funds are released.

This work has Building Regulations approval and and I sent the mortgage company a copy of the Building Regulations Completion Certificate before receiving the offer.

My question is whether a building survey report will suffice or do I need to do something more to fulfil this condition?!

Ask the mortgage company if they need anything else? Sorry if stating the obvious!

Would recommend ringing a surveying company. They can be quite helpful. Also your solicitor may be able to be more specific.

Thanks both! My broker is trying to get the condition removed and I've brought it to the attention of my surveyor ahead of a building survey. Not much more we can do now. I still don't understand why the mortgage folk didn't accept it had been signed off by a professional at the time!

Just ask your surveyor to check it when they do the survey. They may try to cover themselves bu asking for a structural engineer’s report but would push back on that as will cost £££
