Everything that can go wrong seems to have gone wrong! I'm lucky to have a brilliant builder so I'm counting my blessings for that! Just a single storey but so far...
material cost increase pretty much ate my contingency fund
Discovered current house has awful foundations so had to underpin
Needed 4 more steels than the architect predicted
Discovered dead rats in wall cavity
Discovered rats have been gnawing electrical wires so have to have a new separate consumer unit for the extension
Discovered joists in floor of house rotten so had to have them replaced
Am living on a building site... the build is over half way but seriously am questioning why we just didn't move house!! I'm hoping it's worth it in the end!
Basically I'm feeling sorry for myself as I'm full of cold and trying to chill under the duvet but that's not relaxing when there's constant hammering on the other side of the wall.

Show me you before and after photos to prove it's worth it!! Grin

Basically destroyed the house. A bungalow we put an extra floor on and a large rear extension.

For a period of 9 months we were living on a building site - seriously bad. Dust everywhere, no heating except in temporary bedrooms.

But we got there, saved a fortune on renting a place whilst work was ongoing and now have a fantastic house.

Chin up - you'll get there!

A couple more. One is our Kitchen (which we were still using!) and the other is our hallway.

Told you it was grim!

Now that does make me feel better @TobyHouseMan , my kitchen is currently your building site picture and, coincidentally, the kitchen being fitted (hopefully in about 6 weeks!) is very similar to your lovely kitchen!

We are at the very end after having had builders in for year. We are pinning our hopes on them being gone by Christmas and we can decorate in the New Year.

TBH it's not been too bad up until the last 6 weeks or so when they moved in doors. The extension is fitted out an in use as our new kitchen and looks so good that we are really hopeful that the rest of the house will look fab.

We kept our bedroom and the lounge in reasonable nick all the way through. (Though there is slightly too much furniture in both rooms due to other rooms being out of use.)

There is dust everywhere.

But it will be OK.
