Woking - West Byfleet & Horsell info

Hi everyone,

My husband, daughter (10yr) and I are relocating to the Woking area. The housing market seems crazy at the moment and we are not very familiar with the area. We have some seen some properties online in Horsell and West Byfleet. We are not able to view in person at the moment. Is anyone able to give some insight into what these places are like for families? Schools, lifestyle, activities etc.

Thank you in advance!

I used to live in Horsell. The schools are very good, it has a nice centre with a co op, butchers etc. There is an infant, primary and high school all within 10 mins of each other. Horsell Common is a short walk away and a lovely place to walk/bike. Woking is about 20 mins walk and has fast trains to Waterloo. It is, however, pricey compared to other parts of Woking.

You will get more for your money in West Byfleet. The primary schools are good but you would need to check which catchment you would fall into for high schools, St John’s the Baptiste is very good, Bishop David Brown not good, so definitely do your homework on secondary schools. Good luck

Thank you for your reply! We currently still live abroad, and it is difficult when you cannot come over to check out the area. I have read that St John de Baptiste is a good school. I have also been reading up on Woking High and Fullbrook. The available houses to rent disappear so quickly from the market, but hopefully we will find something in either place soon.
