I think we may have a moving date!

After a very very long, boring and stressful process we have a date! But it's two weeks today!
Tell me what I need to do in next 2 weeks apart from pack! And what are your top tips for moving! Help!

How does everyone manage this!!! I can’t get a moving date at all. Ur so lucky. I said the other day that moving seems to be what other people do!!!!

Get a mailed forwarding service from Royal Mail, go for a year then you can change addresses at your leisure.

Throw away/gift to charity absolutely everything you can. It is so depressing to pay to move stuff you'll never use/doesn't fit in your new place.

Start cleaning cupboards, oven and fridge. Then on move day they will just need a quick wipe and you're good to go.

Think about how you'll move pets/kids if you have them. Can someone pick them up from school and have them for the night, likewise can someone keep the fish tank for a week or dog sit?

Don't forget the loft!

Hire a Hippo bag so you can bin the crap as you go without trying to unsuccessfully stuff it all in the black bin.

Just to start packing and cleaning now, you’ll be surprised how long it takes and it gets really stressful if you leave it too late.

Get a skip and have a massive clear out. And get the moving people to pack. Don’t even consider doing it yourself: I’m moving in a couple of weeks and have done the skip, booked the movers who will pack, redirected post, and have a list of people to inform - gas electric water insurances council tax etc. Dog booked into dog sitter or he will be a right pain. Arranged my cleaner to clean here after packing, arranged packing for new house. Electrician booked to take how light fittings here and replace with roses. House clearance people booked to take furniture we don’t need. Also cleaner booked for New house and decorator / floor fitter / kitchen people booked to quote for new house.

Oh and the most important thing. Sky booked to connect broadband ASAP or my children may explode from withdrawal

I must be the only person who is looking forward to actually packing and the actual move. Most exciting part for me. Can’t wait till I can start packing. Yes I’m weird.

My list was based on everything I didn't do on our last move - we drove to our new house with the fish in a tub that leaked water every time we went round a corner, plus many other horrors.
