Blackheath Royal Standard - John Roan School

Can anyone give any insight into this school in East Greenwich please? I'm confused about whether it's private or state / academy, and interested in what it's like? I've heard secondary schools in this area aren't great so if anyone lives there and knows more I'd be interested to find out.

It's a state school. It had some issues in the past but seems to be up and coming. Friends whose kids go there are happy. Mine are at the nearby Leigh Academy Blackheath.

There is definitely a negative view of local state secondaries from people who pay for private or send their kids to Kent grammars. I think there are also advantages to co-ed state schools in terms of mixing with a wide range of people from your local community.

Thank you @PosiePerkinPootleFlump yes I agree and I'm keen for DC to mix with children from a range of backgrounds so I would never choose grammars or private. Just interested whether the school is any good. Facilities from outside seem great.
