HI I would be a first time buyer in UK and is looking around area to buy house. My criteria is
Near to London- as we both work
Good private school- my son would be 6 soon and want him to be in a private school
Good grammar school for him to go once he is that age
As with my limited knowledge I felt reading is suiting all my requirements
Pls let me know if there are other areas
I want to check how are bloor home builders as people told me to go with taylor wimpy or Bellaway.
And do builder negotiate ??

Thanks DPotter for all the info ....Can anyone let me know a good estate agent in reading ... would romans be good .... as we have only dealt for rented property I am not very sure of buying property ones

Which station in London do you need to get to?

Romans is a big agency, so probably a good starting point.

Romans are a franchise, based on my past experiences I wouldn’t especially target them but on the other hand they have lots of branches.
Martin and Pole are a long established local agency in Earley. Could be a good starting point.

also want to know are old properties negotiable if yes then to how much

Suggest you start with a subscription to the local paper - The reading Chronicle - has big property section and loads of house listings.

Have you asked your employer if they would pay for a relocation service to help you. It seems to me you have very little knowledge of the English property market and you need a lot of advice and active support, which with the best will in the world an online parents forum can only scratch the surface. If your employer won't fund this I really think it would be worth you investing in such a service. A quick google brought up this - might be worth checking them out - www.relocation-agent-network.co.uk/

Relocating for us won’t be much cost as we stay in furnished apartment and would move to reading on totally personal preference .It would be just one Van of stuff.plus my job is in London so as per rule if I had been outside my employer would have given assistance in moving to London but not reading as I am already at job location.I will subscribe to reading chronicle thx for this valuable suggestion
