We had our extension built about 5 years ago when I was heavily pregnant. I was pretty stressed about it all as I'd never done anyway like it before so we hired a company to do all of the design and build. In particular, I remember being relieved as we needed to build over a sewer and I'd been anxious about getting the build over agreement because of needing to submit plans, the timings etc.
Anyway, the company did in general a good job - there were a few issues on the way but it seemed to right itself in the end, by which time I had a 4 month old and was quite preoccupied!
We received a final certificate after everything was completed (which I take to be building control) but it was completed by a separate company rather than the local council.
Anyway, we are now moving and I've been asked to supply the build over agreement from the water company. I have no record of this but am hoping that because we have had a final certificate, this will have been checked at the time... Is this right?
In the meantime I've contacted the building company who say they are looking for my files but because it was so long ago, it's all in storage and may take a while to find.
I'm suddenly paranoid, they didn't get a build over agreement as I was certainly never charged for this.
Please reassure me this must have been handled appropriately - I'm panicking this will break our chain!
Thanks in advance!!
