Chain free leasehold purchase in 7-8 weeks possible?

Question as in the title :)

I was told by agent/vendor we could complete in 7-8 weeks as it's a chain-free share of freehold flat (even though lease extension is on-going).

Do you think this is reasonable and is there anything we can do to speed this up? Just starting the process - week 0 so everything is pending (do have a solicitor lined up, mortgage should be very easy...).

Highly unlikely.

Don’t you just love Estate Agents telling you when you can complete 😂
Honestly, no other profession could get away with the bullshit they come out with.

OP, there's literally no difference in the sales process for a share of freehold vs a leasehold flat, except there's more paperwork involved in the SOFH because you also have to arrange the FH share transfer.

I think it’s doable on the sellers side if the management pack is done quickly. That seems the main hold up.

Theres not much difference between leasehold or share of freehold just a bit of extra admin. The ongoing lease extension should be fine, if not completed in time they can just transfer rights to you and your name can be on the new lease or deed of variation.

On your side searches can take time and don’t assume your mortgage will be fast. And Have you already booked your survey?

I managed it 7 weeks from offer to completion so it is possible if everyone has everything ready.
