Double oven vs 2 ovens + DIY kitchens

Trying to decide on appliances for a new kitchen, and read a few people saying the top ovens of their double ovens are not that great. We rarely used ours when we had one and I suppose yes, didn't find it great. So contemplating having two full ovens on top of each other. Does anyone have any feedback on that set up and has anyone done it with DIY kitchens units - if so which one (we're looking at the taller units that they do, not the 1970)?

I had a double oven in my last kitchen, hated it. Now I have 2 single ovens in a tall unit, I think it was 1970 from memory.

Both were diy kitchens. With the double oven I had a top open cupboard and 2 pan drawers. Now I have the top open cupboard and 1 pan drawer.

What I have now is so much better.

We had this dilemma a couple of years ago. We chose a double oven with a reasonably sized top oven and both are fan ovens. We use the top oven more than the bottom one, as more often than not we’re just putting one tray in there so it feels more efficient.

If you rarely used the second oven on your double oven, what makes you think you need two full ovens?

I went for a quad set up of double oven side by side with a single and combi microwave stacked
Rarely run out of space now and really handy for cooking things at different temperatures, or if I need to use the oven & the grill simultaneously.

If I was going to have two single ovens - I would go side by side rather than one on top of the other iyswim!

Standard oven plus oven/combi micro here

We have two ovens, one on top of the other. The top oven has an integrated microwave (like this one, which I was skeptical about but has turned out to be very useful. We rarely use the microwave, but it's a nice to have, so having it integrated into a useful appliance rather than taking up counter space is great. The only small issue I have is setting the times so that both show the same time!

I’ve also gone for double oven with a slightly larger top oven. Im a keen baker and cook but realised I have lots of other cooking devices such as air fryer and instant pot so I am not so reliant on oven space as I once was.

Thanks all. I'll have a look at double ovens with larger top ovens but I think I'm leaning towards two singles. They would have to be stacked though, layout won't work side by side.

@CasperGutman the top oven was small so no good for a lot of things which is why we rarely used it. Two full sized ovens seems much more user friendly.

We got talked into a single oven and a combi oven microwave side by side.

We used to have a free standing oven with a grill - small oven on top - which we used at Christmas/big family dinners or for keeping food warm. It was used a fair amount.

I'm sceptical about the new set up - but haven't used it yet.

Have a single oven at the moment and struggle with it when have people round.

Single oven and combi microwave side by side with a warming drawer underneath. We use all 3 of them very regularly and all easy access. My neighbour who like me is petite, had hers all stacked and needs a chair to reach the microwave which is too high! Side by side is great for lifting stuff in and out without having to bend down/stretch up and so therefore safer.
