Secondary schools in new malden

Hi everyone, I am very keen on moving to new malden and was wondering if I could ask for some advice regarding secondary schools in the area. I have two girls and would ideally like to be in the catchment area for a good local comp. Does anyone know if the catchment area for tolworth girls in surbiton extends to new malden. Also selective grammars such as non such high school for girls. Does anyone know if you can be given a place living in new malden? Any other alternatives on high schools? What do people tend to do?

Hi! I live in New Malden, and have two girls so know loads about the catchments!

Tolworth Girls extends to about South Lane area. Definitely not the Groves or Malden Hill areas.

Is there a reason you wouldn’t want Coombe Girls? Also an outstanding state all girls school. The catchment is most of NM.

The catchment of Coombe Girls is about one mile radius from its location if that helps.

Actually, in 2020 Tolworth Girls went up to about Elmbridge Avenue. But no further than that.

There’s also Tiffin in Kingston which is a grammar. Though I believe one of the hardest grammars to get in to. And there’s Holy Cross, which is another outstanding all girls school, but is Catholic.

Some NM electoral wards are inner area for Tiffin Girls and none of NM is in catchment for Nonsuch but kids do get in as one of the 85 top scores which have no catchment. Other have covered the comp options. For girls there are lots of outstanding schools to chose from.

But do check distances as it’s unlikely you could be in catchment for more than one unless you are catholic. Open evenings for the comps are coming up so could be a good time to check which schools you like.

Thank you so much for all of the replies. So helpful. Can I just ask one more question...how do you find living in New Malden? Are you happy there? lots to do for families etc.?

We really love it. Lots and lots of families. My girls are 1 and 3, and from our doorstep we can walk to ballet/gymnastics/trampolining/football/swimming (Kingston Swimming Club train at NM pool)/tennis etc. There are big parks nearby, and it’s so well connected to London. There’s a farmers market every month. The only issues are the super ugly towers, and lack of a good spot for brunch.

Hi there, we are viewing houses around New Malden but we dont have any idea about the area. We have a 3yrs old boy. We will be viewing houses one on Beverley rd the other one on Egerton. Would you recommend these areas or where we should avoid?

Thanks
