Help us plan our kitchen

So we've had to bin our extension plans and now have just do up what we have!

Ive attached our current floor plan. I really dislike our current kitchen layout. And I'm worried we will just replace like for like as we can't think of anything more imaginative ! So is really appreciate some tips!

We currently have a square kitchen.... so 4 sides, we have peninsular between the kitchen and diner. The sink is in front of the window.
Currently have a range oven which we are happy to get rid off as takes up too much space. We have a large American fridge freezer taking up a lot of space too.

Our issue is we have very little storage space for actual food stuff! I'm constantly storing stuff on the worktops! So annoying

We have 3 corner cupboards! Which are horrible to use and no where for bins.

I'd love a larder type cupboard but not sure we can fit it in without compromising on work top space.

The only thing I think about splitting across both rooms is how annoying it would be to be possibly walking back and fourth across the space?

Haha yes I kept thinking "chimney breast is the key to unlocking the space" 🤣 good ole beeny!

Interestingly we bought new fridge freezer and moved it into the alcove so I could check it didn’t annoy me too much before the kitchen work really started - for me it’s fine because the room really isn’t that big anyway but I do get what you mean!! Prior to this we had under counter fridge and freezer which was fine but we filled the fridge a lot 🤦‍♀️

I've emailed one of the builders who quoted for our extension and asked for just a price on taking down the chimney and opening the back completely.
Not sure we will open the back up as it will just be a lot of money... but thought it was worth asking!

DH is more onboard with moving the kitchen after showing him this thread. 😁

Really starting to get frustrated now.

We had a builder round On saturday and we haven't got a price yet but moving stuff to the dining room is going to be so much work.
We'd have to remove the chimney, move the door, move the waste digging down into the floor and move a boiler.

So we had a plan done just to redo the current kitchen and I don't like it. It's dull and doesn't give us much more storage then we have now.
We are now thinking of selling sooner rather then later now so I'm tempted to just go with the kitchen plan even though I don't love it. However we would only be looking to move to a very small section of roads, near by, so could end up being here a while.

First world problems I know but getting so frustrated.
