To ask is there any point protecting the floorboards?

Basically, that really, is there any point protecting floorboards when painting, in rooms that are going to have carpet anyway?
Just in the middle of renovations and wondering is there any point as its likely for the whole time we live here we'll have carpet in the rooms.

Yes, because you will know, and it's not hard to put something down to catch spills etc.

If you're never going to expose them then no but you don't want drips or spills getting through the cracks onto electricals or staining ceilings below.

If you decide to sand the boards in the future, a few paint drips won't make any difference. The dribbles in-between boards are a pain though.

I use these 4x8 sheets to protect my floors when I'm painting. They're heavy duty but fold down for transport and storage.

Are they floorboards that could be used as a nice wooden floor once sanded down a little? If so I would cover them, even just to be kind to anyone else that got the house after me. Your house though, completely up to you! I don’t think anyone will judge you because no one will know 😂
