Cost to extend above a single garage

Has anyone done this recently and able to advise what it cost? It’s already living space below, so foundations etc should be fine (unless they need to be deeper to go up higher).

Just to add that it’s for one room, no plumbing or anything else needed.

It would definitely depend on the foundations
How big is the room going to be - they say 1500 per sq metre usually - may be more as a roof needs doing also

The garage is roughly 5m by 3.5m.

What more work is likely to be needed for the foundations, do you know?

I think you'll need some quotes, you need to know if the single storey there already can firstly support the weight feom above, and the foundations can support it all. It may all be fine but a builder would know - are you getting an architect ?

Yes, we will get quotes and an architect. We are also going to look at a couple of other alternatives of gaining an office area by extending elsewhere, but they would be ground floor extensions.

depends where u are. 25-35k. probably nearer top end with current material prices at the moment

I'd say get 3-4 quotes and see if it's worth doing abs if it's possible on your budget - good luck!
