Seen a nice house in Cheltenham but not too sure of the area, pretty close to Whaddon and the primary school report and results are pretty poor.

Anyone from the area and can offer advice ?

Whaddon is notoriously rough, I spent six months walking through the area to get to work (this was ten years ago, mind) and didn't get the feeling 'oh, this place gets bad press, it's alright really' ... it really was rough. However, there are some really quite nice areas very near by - there is one road we looked at was very pleasant at one end, awful at the other (Whaddon) end.

School is obviously a big concern though, even if you find a house in a decent area. I think the local secondary would be Pittville as well, which also has a bad reputation.

Never get the impression there are a lot of Cheltenham people on MN, but hopefully someone with more direct local knowledge will come along and help you out (and bawl me out for being such an awful Leckhampton snob ).
