Conservatory Roof Tiles or Glass

So we have bought a house with a big conservatory with a polycarbonate roof. I like the look of the tiled roofs with velux windows. Has anyone done this and are they pleased with it? Or are the new glass roofs better. It’s just too hot to sit in and enjoy.

Watching this with interest as I am hoping to replace my glass conservatory roof with tiles in the future. From what I've read, not all conservatories are suitable for a new tiled roof-something to do with whether the footings are deep enough to hold the extra weight. Our conservatory is used all year round as it opens directly into the kitchen, but as our garden is south facing, it can get too bright and hot in there. Have you got a company in mind?

No, I’m just looking into it probably won’t get done until next year. So how do you find out how deep the footings are?

Ours has a slate roof to match the house. Its very much a room with glass walls (down to the floor) rather than a conservatory you might picture). Its an incredibly light bright room and gets hot in summer. It would be unbearable with a "glass" roof. For us having a solid roof makes it very much a continuation of the house from the inside. It seems to be well received by people erho see it. The roof it pitched and vaulted inside, it was foyne by a slate roofing specialist if it helps. It was dpecificallt built to carry the weight of the roof with something special at the apex to take the load.

You can have the roof insulated or you can get lightweight roofs so it doesn't matter about the foundation.

We have looked at cosy roofs and are saving to have it done. Think it will be about 8k.
