Aside from Zoopla, Right Move etc., how else can we search for a rental property for end of September. So few properties available currently and bloody worrying!

Can you register remotely with agents so you are ready with proof of funds etc?

Whereabouts in the north - I'm in Northumberland in the North East.

It's hard, OP. Our town in County Durham is seen as a bit rough/ not very desirable, but people on the town Facebook group arevalways going on about private rentals being like hens' teeth. There didn't used to be much difference between social housing rents and private around here, but private rents are much dearer now.

Try the local Facebook groups for towns you're looking to move to.

In my local town in the East Mids, there's quite regularly posts asking for rentals, and private landlords are tagged on the post so you can contact them. Some are listed before they've gone live on the letting agents rightmove listing. It's worth a go.

Up North where? That's half the country...

Openrent is a site where landlords advertise directly to tenants, I know a few people who found their rentals through it.
