Is this room big enough for a king size bed?

Having to move to rented accommodation without being able to see it in person first and can't get my head round this - is a room of 3.75m x 3.68m big enough for a king size bed? No wardrobe in the bedroom, just 2 small chests of drawers. Room is pretty square, not a weird shape, no bay window.

I’d use masking tape to plot the area of the room around your bed, that will give you a good idea.

I kind of need to order the bed before we move in, that's the problem, and it's too far away for me to see it in person

Nah you got it right - I thought you already had the bed so I thought it would help to see it visually like that. But I guess you could plot a king size bed around your current bed, and then plot the room area around that.

Only because I think with measurements it can sometimes be difficult to visualise whether something will actually work without seeing it in concrete terms - It should be fairly straightforward to do the maths but it wouldn’t necessarily tell you whether you’d actually be able to live with it, iyswim.

Yeah it's fine! It's 12 feet x 12ft 3.

If you have the bed coming out from the 12 ft wall you'd have 2.5 feet either side which is plenty for a beside table or narrow chest either side.

3.5 feet either side I should say Blush

Yes

I should have just done the maths rather than giving convoluted suggestions! (Story of my life...if there’s a way to overcomplicate things, I’ll think of it!)

Our bedroom is 3.91x3.31 and we have a super king. It goes along the longer wall just between 2 doors. We dont have enough room for 2 bedside tables, but we have one, and then mine is under the window, which I can reach. We will also shortly have two wardrobes.

Mybobowler · 29/07/2021 18:03

Ours is smaller than that and we have a king-sized bed and a chest of drawers. It's a bit of a squeeze but we can get bedside tables in either side and have just had to be very disciplined about keeping it tidy and uncluttered, to avoid it looking a teenager's bedroom.

bloodywhitecat · 29/07/2021 18:11

Our room is only 2.5m wide (and 4.7m long) and is wide enough for a kingsize so I reckon you'll be fine.

Our bedroom is 3.43.12 with a chimney breast. We've got a king-sized bed, two bedside tables (kallax 12 units) and two 2*4 kallaxes.

A king size bed is 1.5m wide and 2.0m long, so should fit in your room quite easily.
