Once the contract and deposit are "in the post" can I relax/celebrate?

Can I?
Dh saw solictor today to exchange on the house we have been trying to buy for months now.
Contracts signed and deposit released. Should be with "their" solicitors tomorrow.
So....is that pretty much it then?
Aim to complete in about 3 to 4 weeks (sooner if possible.
We were in a race with an alleged other offer. ('alleged' as did not go through the estate agents...and rather convenient given the fact the sellor was trying to push us into exchanging before we had all the search info back etc)

Until you have their contract in return it isn't a done deal .

mishymoo · 26/11/2007 15:42

Only set in stone once all contracts have been signed by both/all parties!

tigana · 26/11/2007 15:45

Dammit!..I rather thought you'd say that, but even so...been going on for soooo long now and I just want some sort of closure.
argh!

no closure is when you have keys in hand and open the door.

tigana - we posted our contract in august and we're still waiting!! We were given a completion date of 19th oct initially but some silly moo up the chain won't move out. We've now been given a date of the 7th Dec. But I won;t hold my breath. Like others say you don't relax until you have the keys in your hand!!
