Gift for vendor and buyer

CharlieBrown65 · 20/07/2021 20:03

We are due to complete over the next few weeks. We would love to get a gift for our vendors as they are selling their family home for 30 years and have been SO helpful along the way with chasing solicitors etc. We would also like to leave our buyers something as it's their first home and we want to make it special. Does anyone have any lovely ideas? Our minds are a bit melted with the whole process 🙈

For the FTB a box with say mugs, teabags, coffee and a packet of nice biscuits. And a small card. It will make the move in nice for them.

For the vendors flowers is always a nice touch.

Livingintheclouds · 20/07/2021 20:12

I always leave a bottle of wine and a card for my buyers. I've never given anything to my sellers though.

JudgeRindersMinder · 20/07/2021 20:57

We were left a card and a bottle of Lanson champagne by our sellers, and we left our buyers flowers, fizz and a card

Bluntness100 · 20/07/2021 20:58

I leave a bottle of champagne and a welcome to your new home card, plus a little list of things they should know. Like where the stop cock is or when bin day is.

I don’t get th sellers anything,

Andthenanothercupoftea · 20/07/2021 21:51

We're leaving loo roll, biscuits and a bottle of wine for our buyers. Maybe flowers if I remember on the day.

I think I'm going to send our vendors a card as they've been very patient with our sale falling through twice. I don't know their address so I think I'll need to do it via the EA.

The vendors of our first home left us a lovely bunch of flowers, a towel bale, a helpful note about the boiler/neighbors/meters etc and a £50 voucher for b&q. They also had the house professionally cleaned.
We were very grateful and I still sometimes think about how nice it was almost 8 years later!

Second home was filthy and we got a load of broken things to fix though so not everyone is as lovely Grin

The issue is it’s very difficult to get a gift to a seller unless you leave it with the agent, and hope the agent doesn’t nick it. 😂

Generally you gift the buyer.

It’s lovely going in and there’s something welcoming you to your new home

I had one who took th light bulbs and the ends of the loo rolls from ththe bathrooms, some people are not pleasant.

I think we will go for wine and flowers for our buyer! We are going to visit the sellers next week for a cup of tea, so were hoping to take it then 🙈 we might just go for wine for them as well!

You can get an ink drawing of a house done online (Not on the High street, amongst others) for not much more than a good bottle of wine. Comes in a frame.

PragmaticWench · 20/07/2021 22:31

For the vendors I mean.

CharlieBrown65 · 20/07/2021 23:08

What a lovely idea!!!

I bought my sister and her husband a nice wine box with their names on and some glasses too when she got her first house and she loved it, uses it all the time :)
This is it if you were interested :)

Wait for the royal mail letter telling you to set up a redirect from your old address (meaning that the vendors have set one up for your new address) and then post the card addressed to the vendors at your current address so it gets redirected to them.

How about personalised candle with the address on it like this

I left Prosecco and a plant for my buyer, along with a card and list of useful things such as bin day, heating instructions and window cleaner details. I don’t know how you could get a gift to the seller unless you knew where they were moving to?

Toddlerteaplease · 21/07/2021 17:54

I sent my vendor flowers, as she'd also been my landlady. And was really good.

PoshWatchShitShoes · 21/07/2021 19:13

Our vendor left a bottle of champagne in the fridge with a little note, which was a nice touch.

Also, the house was immaculate and where they'd taken down their light fittings, they'd replaced them with cheaper ones that looked fine and tided us over till we bought new ones (much better than bare bulbs).

CharlieBrown65 · 21/07/2021 22:18

We are going round to the vendors for a cup of tea next week @Thisisanartattack 😂 they are the cutest. I think we will get them a coordinates frame print!
