Leeds/Manchester - diversity

Hello all :-)

I'm currently living in Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, which we love, but we are a multi-racial family and while it's diverse here in many ways, it's not racially diverse.

I have two children who are black Kenyan (I am white) and one is in school in Wales (long story!), the other, who is my wonderful 13-year-old autistic daughter is now home with me doing online school.

Originally, we had a medium term plan to return to Kenya, but for a number of reasons, that may not happen now. So I need to look at moving to areas that are more diverse, and within driving distance to north Wales. And that would have good schools so my daughter can return to schooling, with adequate support.

We like Leeds (she does basketball in Allerton High School twice a week), have only heard good things about Manchester, but I really don't know where to start!!

Any help gratefully received :-)

@Subbaxeo

I worked in Manchester until recently and it’s very racially diverse plus it has a really nice central part of town. It can be expensive-I love Chorlton, very mixed, diverse lifestyle wise but now gone very expensive. But much easier to get to Wales-would not fancy the journey down the M62 from Leeds.
Thank you - I think it may be out of my price range, sadly. But good to hear about the diversity and will look into it more. And yes, the M62 is part of my route now - not fun!

A year on....curious if you ended up at Allerton High or Leeds?
I have a mixed race family too and will be returning from the Caribbean soon after 25yrs. Looking at Leeds for the exact same reason.

Manchester. Very diverse; way more diverse than HB even in the posh bits, and defo closer to wales than Leeds is!

You could also consider Liverpool, which is the capital of North Wales!

so, I actually ended up in London! Long story, but work circumstances changed and literally just moved here :-)
